The final event for this weekend was also the final Instameet event for the year; this Instameet went to the Vancouver Christmas Market! Although shortly after the start, the entire group ended up going to a restaurant to eat and talk instead 🙂 I did get a few pictures on Instagram though. Because we didn’t really look around the market all that much, hopefully I will have a chance to go back at some point before christmas eve and take a proper look around.
Hmm, looks like I have a week or two before anything else comes up..

Project Epilogue – Day 680: November Instameet

Time for another Instameet and the first photowalk with my 7D! 😀
This months Instameet took us to the Winter Farmers Market and Queen Elizabeth Park. I also had a chance to try out the Canon EF 100mm f2.8L IS Macro lens and I loved it! The tighter field of view was a much welcomed change from my 24-70L and the macro capabilities were really nice (even though I didn’t take full advantage of them). *Sigh* If I had the money I would get this lens in a heart beat 😦 For an instagram photowalk, I didn’t get many instagram pictures either XD
I hear that the January Instameet is going to involve snowshoeing as well 🙂

Project Epilogue – Day 674: The SFU Photoshoot and a Bit of Anime Evolution

A couple of friends of mine planned to have a photoshoot at SFU and invited me to join in.
Although we ended splitting off to different locations at the start :s Anyway, I finally had a
chance to work with someone I had met at the Zombie Walk earlier in August! The photoshoot went
fairly well although I’m not really keen on using SFU Burnaby again this season..
At the same time as this shoot the Anime Evolution convention was going on at the campus as well.
From what I was told before, AE was the original anime convention that took place in Vancouver up
to 2009/2010; Cos & Effect and Anime Revolution appeared in 2011 and 2012 respectively. My timing
was off a bit unfortunately so I ended up talking with people I already knew and getting their
pictures instead. The best part of this was that I learned my 7D + off-camera flash (with non-
Canon or Pocket Wizard flash triggers) is capable of capturing action shots with the flash
actually working! There are soooo many things I can do with this knowledge 🙂

Project Epilogue – Day 664: Testing Out the 7D

My first outing with my new camera, the Canon 7D!
I bought the camera from a friend of mine about two days ago, on the same day that I actually sold my Canon Rebel T2i kit and Tokina wide angle lens (which I miss dearly). I have used camera a little before but that was back when I was still learning everything, so this was a fairly important test run for me. I used my Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens and Canon 24-70L with no lighting gear for this shoot; there was no over all theme either. Now I have to go through another learning phase but it will be worth it in the end :3

Generally, the name “Instameet” implies the use of Instagram to take pictures; in this case, not so much. Because I still haven’t had my 7D for that long, I am still trying to take advantage of any chance that will let me use it more! That also meant that I only managed to get two Instagram pictures 😡
I also had a chance to try out the Canon EF 100mm f2.8L Macro IS lens over the course of the day. It was an awesome perspective shift honestly and I’m really happy with how these pictures turned out! 🙂
